Strong Values and Relevant Experience for Newton’s City Council

“In Newton, my kids play safely under leafy trees, attend top-notch schools, and enjoy our backyard chickens, all in a warm suburban neighborhood, yet steps from the Boston’s pulse.  I’d like to keep it that way.”

Newton deserves leaders able to sustain its excellence. As your City Councilor, I will be committed to our schools, support traditional and cultural identities, encourage local commerce, and promote fiscal stewardship through pragmatic, fact-based and resident-centered service. As an executive leading values-based organizations, I will bring my financial investment, strategic analysis and problem-solving skills to the City Council. My approach is straightforward: analyze the data, listen to residents and other stakeholders, and find consensus or compromise around solutions that reflect constituents’ priorities.

That’s exactly what John Chaimanis brings to Newton.

Strong Schools and Educational Excellence

Newton’s children are at the heart of our community, and everyone here has an interest in giving them the best possible education. Gina and I worked tirelessly for years to afford our home in Newton, so our three young children could thrive in the exceptional public schools here. As a parent committed to the Newton Public Schools, I will do all I can to strengthen educational excellence within Newton’s fiscal constraints. I look forward to collaborating with our esteemed Superintendent, Dr. Anna Nolin, to support her program of excellence and meeting the needs of all students, faculty, staff and parents.

Building Community Connections

A community flourishes when neighbors know, respect, and care about each other. As the child of immigrants, I love our country and our community here in Newton. Especially in these divisive times, I value the diverse cultural identities that enrich Newton. By embracing and celebrating heritage in its varying forms in our neighborhoods and villages, we strengthen Newton and reject the divisiveness afflicting much of the world.

Supporting Thriving Local Commerce in Newton

In an era reshaped by online shopping and remote work, fostering local commerce is vital to Newton’s future. Supporting independent businesses and shops is key to rebuilding Newton’s commercial tax base, creating appealing village centers, sustaining arts and culture, increasing civic engagement, and fostering connections between village residents. I am particularly interested in initiatives that bolster local commerce and enhance Newton’s appeal to visitors willing to spend money here.

Fiscal Stewardship for Newton's Future

My experience as a successful entrepreneur in both commercial and nonprofit ventures has honed my ability to budget and allocate resources prudently. As your City Councilor, I’ll work with constituents and colleagues to analyze proposals to ensure Newton’s resources are managed wisely, sustainably, and in alignment with residents’ priorities.

Fact-Based Decision Making for Newton Residents

Newton’s best interests are served by decisions grounded in evidence. I will apply my skills in rigorous data analysis to challenge unsubstantiated rhetoric, ensuring my City Council actions reflect facts and promote informed outcomes that serve our constituents.
